Philippines VFD for Single Phase Motor with SP1004 Hybrid Solar Input
Many residential water systems in the Philippines use a 220V single-phase pump. The customer wanted to reduce electricity use for home water supply without replacing the pump or modifying the motor capacitor.
This project used a SolarSeeker SP1004 4kW inverter to run a 2.2kW single-phase pump. The system was tested indoors with 220V AC input first, then configured for hybrid input using AC power and about 330V DC solar input from 8 x 600W panels.

What Was Not Working
A normal inverter path can force pump changes or capacitor removal.
Residential buildings may need water supply for long hours, and electricity bills can become a real monthly burden. Solar pumping is attractive, but many sites already use a single-phase water pump.
Some inverter solutions require the pump capacitor to be removed before they can drive a 220V single-phase motor. That can reduce pump efficiency and shorten service life. In this project, the SP1004 was selected to drive the 220V single-phase pump directly.
System Configuration
SP1004 combined grid input and solar input, with solar power priority.
The installer tested the inverter with 220V AC input indoors before using hybrid input mode. During operation, the inverter can take AC power and DC solar power at the same time, then prioritize solar energy when available.

Field Result
The pump ran well and produced strong water output during testing.
The project video and site images show the pump running after the inverter test. For a home water supply user, the main value is not a complex control cabinet. It is a practical setup that can use solar energy first while keeping AC power available.
For distributors, this type of single phase VFD project is a useful path for residential buyers who already own a 3hp electric motor, 3hp 1 phase motor, or similar 220V pump and want solar support without changing the pump body.

Selection Notes
What buyers should check before choosing a VFD for single phase motor use
Pump nameplate first
Check voltage, power, current, phase, pump type, head, and flow before selecting a vfd controller or solar pump inverter.
Hybrid input logic
For home use, AC backup and solar priority help the water well water pump keep working when sunlight changes.
Do not assume every pump is the same
A submersible pump for water well, a surface pump, and a deep well submersible pump can need different sizing checks.
Buyer Path
Where to go after checking your pump
For the main inverter family
Compare SolarSeeker inverter ranges for AC pump solar operation.
For 220V single-phase pump projects
Use this path when the buyer asks for a single phase vfd or inverter for home water supply.
For small pump and kit planning
Useful for 3hp 1 phase electric motor and small residential water pumps for wells.
FAQ
Questions from single-phase pump buyers
Can SP1004 drive a 220V single-phase pump?
Yes, this Philippines project used an SP1004 4kW inverter with a 2.2kW 220V single-phase pump. The pump nameplate should still be checked before model selection.
Why use AC and DC input together?
Hybrid input lets the inverter use solar power first while AC power remains available. This is helpful for home water supply where the pump may need to run outside perfect sunlight hours.
Is this only for submersible well pump applications?
No. The same selection logic can be checked for surface pumps, water pumps for wells, and some submersible well pump applications, as long as voltage, power, and current are confirmed.
What information should be sent for a model check?
Send the pump nameplate, pump photo, water source, daily running need, AC backup requirement, planned PV panel size, and installation photos.
Have a 220V single-phase pump that needs solar support?
Send your pump nameplate and planned PV panel data. SolarSeeker will check whether SP1004 or another model fits your single-phase motor and hybrid input requirement.
