Paraguay / 200kW Center Pivot Irrigation

SP4200 Control Cabinet for a 185HP Center Pivot Irrigation Pump in Paraguay

A 185HP irrigation pump is not a small solar upgrade. If grid voltage fluctuates or diesel cost is too high, the farm can lose irrigation time and damage expensive pumping equipment.

For this Paraguay project, SolarSeeker supplied an SP4200 complete control cabinet rated at 380V / 200kW / 377A. The PV side used 420 pieces of 600W solar panels, arranged as 14 panels in series and 30 strings in parallel.

Center pivot irrigation is the result the farm cares about. The cabinet and PV field have to support this large moving load.

Why The Cabinet Was Needed

The farm had more than one power problem.

Weak or unstable grid capacity

The local grid was old and struggled with a pump near the 200HP class. Voltage fluctuation can shorten pump life and make irrigation unreliable.

Diesel cost was not acceptable

Running a pump of this size on diesel can make irrigation cost too high for routine farm operation.

The crop still needed water on time

If irrigation is delayed, the farm risk appears in the field before it appears in the electrical cabinet.

System Architecture

A complete cabinet was easier for the local team than loose high-power components

The SP4200 cabinet put the control logic, power handling, and operation interface into one delivery. The customer needed easier wiring, remote control, longer pump life, and lower maintenance risk.

At 200kW, a cabinet is not decoration. It affects cable routing, protection, service access, and how quickly the local engineer can commission or troubleshoot the system.

Commissioning View

At 200kW, the layout is part of the engineering decision.

The center pivot, cabinet, pump area, and PV field all affect the engineering review. A quotation for another farm should be based on the full layout, not only on the inverter rating.

High-Power Engineering Checks

A 200kW cabinet quote starts with the whole pumping line.

  1. 1

    Motor nameplate and starting current

HP alone is not enough for inverter and protection selection.

  2. 2

    Pivot pressure and irrigation schedule

The pump must support the water pattern the farm actually uses.

  3. 3

PV string voltage and parallel current

The 14S x 30P array must be checked against module data and cabinet limits.

  4. 4

    Remote control and service access

Large farms need operation visibility and maintainable wiring, not only a running test.

FAQ

Questions from the Paraguay 200kW irrigation cabinet project

What configuration was used?

The installed system used a SolarSeeker SP4200 cabinet, 380V / 200kW / 377A output, a 185HP pump motor, and 420 pieces of 600W solar panels arranged as 14S x 30P.

Why use a complete cabinet?

For a high-power center pivot system, a cabinet can combine control, protection, wiring, and operation interface in a maintainable package.

Can the same PV string be copied elsewhere?

Not without checking module Voc, Vmp, temperature, inverter limits, cable distance, and local site conditions.

What should a farm send before quotation?

Send the motor nameplate, pump curve if available, pivot pressure requirements, irrigation schedule, PV module data, grid or diesel condition, and site photos.

Planning a high-power center pivot pump?

Send motor data, PV module data, pivot pressure, irrigation schedule, and cabinet requirements. SolarSeeker will check the SP4/SP4200 path before quoting.
