Why Choose SP1

Three reasons SP1 wins for residential and small-farm projects

Universal Compatibility

  • Works with 90% of single-phase pumps on the market
  • No phase converter needed (unlike SP2)
  • Standard 220V household power compatible
  • Compatible with Grundfos, Franklin, Lorentz and most mainstream pump brands

vs. competitors: most controllers require specific pump brands. SP1 works with any standard single-phase pump.

Easiest Installation

  • Plug-and-play terminal design
  • Auto parameter detection – no manual tuning
  • Pre-configured for common pumps
  • Installation in under 1 hour
  • 3-page manual vs. 50+ pages from competitors

vs. competitors: traditional controllers take days to configure. SP1 powers on and starts automatically.

Best Cost-Efficiency

  • Lowest upfront cost in the SP series
  • Typical ROI within 18-24 months
  • No additional phase conversion equipment
  • 99.99% MPPT efficiency = maximum solar harvest
  • Zero electricity bills after installation

Savings: average household saves $1,200/year on electricity. SP1 pays for itself in less than 2 years.

SP1 vs Alternatives

Why SP1 beats traditional solar pumping solutions

Two real comparisons against the most common alternative setups buyers usually consider.

SP1 Direct-Drive vs. Grid Inverter + Grid-Tied Pump

Factor Grid Inverter + Pump SP1 Direct-Drive Solution
Upfront CostGrid inverter ($800) + grid-tied pump ($400) = $1,200SP1 (<$650) + standard pump ($300) = <$950
InstallationUtility approval, net metering setupPlug-and-play, no utility involvement
Off-Grid CapabilityRequires grid connectionWorks anywhere with sunlight
Monthly BillsStill pays grid connection feesZero operating costs
IndependenceDependent on utilityComplete energy independence

SP1 Direct-Drive vs. Battery-Based Solar System

Factor Battery-Based Solar System SP1 Direct-Drive System
Initial CostController + battery bank = $2,000+Controller only < $650
MaintenanceBattery replacement every 5-7 years ($800+)Zero battery maintenance
ComplexityComplex wiring, charging managementSimple direct connection

LifespanLimited by battery life (5-7 years)15+ years (no battery to replace)

Decision Boundary

When SP1 is NOT the right choice

Choose the right product path the first time. If any of the following apply, another SolarSeeker model serves the project better.

Your site already has three-phase power

Three-phase systems are 5-8% more efficient. Choose SP3 for the best efficiency.

FAQ

SP1 220V single phase solar pump inverter FAQ

What size SP1 model do I need for a 2.2kW pump?

For a 2.2kW single-phase pump, choose SP1004 (2.2kW rating, 18A output). Add a 20% safety margin if the pump runs continuously or the well is deep – in that case the SP1005 (4.0kW) provides extra headroom.

Can SP1 run a three-phase pump?

No. SP1 outputs single-phase 220V only. For three-phase pumps, use SP2 (phase converter) or SP3 (220V three-phase).

How many solar panels do I need for SP1?

Total solar panel wattage should be approximately 1.5 x pump power. For a 2.2kW pump, that means a 3.3kW solar array (around 9 x 370W panels). The interactive calculator above computes the exact panel count for your pump.

Does SP1 work on cloudy days?

Yes. SP1 starts pumping from as little as 200W of solar input and adjusts pump speed in real time as solar irradiance changes. On heavily overcast days the output reduces but the system continues running. For climates with long cloudy seasons, increase the PV array by 20-30%.

What pump data should I send for an SP1 quotation?

Send a photo of the pump nameplate plus: kW or HP rating, rated current (A), voltage and phase, total head (m), required flow (m3/h), well depth, cable distance, and project country. A nameplate photo alone is usually enough to start the recommendation.

What’s the warranty for SP1?

Standard warranty is 2 years on the SP1 controller. Extended warranty options are available for OEM and bulk orders. Free technical support and free parameter configuration are included for all customers.

Next Step

Ready to start your SP1 solar pumping project?

Send the pump nameplate, head, flow, well depth, and project country. SolarSeeker confirms the right SP1 model within 1 working day – or recommends SP2/SP3/SP4 if a different path serves the project better.
